Neal Hefti era trompetista, arranjador e compositor e em 1966 disse que o tema da série televisiva foi a música mais difícil que compôs. Esta deu à ele o grammy de melhor tema instrumental.

Neal faleceu sábado em sua residencia, aos 85 anos de idade, informou seu filho. Nascido em 1922, o músico trabalhou em dois álbuns com Frank Sinatra.
